Subscription Manager
The Subscription Manager component provides an interface between a user who wishes to subscribe to services and other applications that offer services. The way service provision is controlled is by either the user being allocated one or more roles that give access to services, or the user being given a credit balance of units of some kind that can be used against service provision, or some combination of the two. The Subscription Manager uses the Aliro plugin mechanism to query applications in order to find out what services exist that can be subscribed to. The responses from applications are used to build subscription packages. The response from applications are quite likely to be affected by configuration options in those applications.
Again using the Aliro plugin mechanism, applications can query the Subscription Manager about credit balances of units for services that are best controlled by counting. Where the user is allocated to a role, the interface is indirect, because the Subscription Manager will place the user in one or more roles for the duration of the subscription, and the application can directly query the Aliro Role Based Access Control system.
The Subscription Manager conforms to the
Aliro Subscription Protocol.
This software is currently under development by Martin Brampton, who would welcome any collaboration.
